I have been writing for as long as I can remember, from scribbled thoughts and short stories to longer pieces of fiction. At some point, I picked up a camera and started telling stories with photos too. Interwoven in both my writing and photography is a love of dogs.
Dogs have always been an important part of my life and I am happiest in their company. While beautiful in form, I am most enamored with their spirit and enthusiasm for life. I try to capture this spirit with my camera.
Dogs find their way into my writing as well, whether as the muse, main subject or supporting character. My most cherished unfinished project is a fiction book featuring a headstrong woman and her steadfast canine companion who gently guides her through a major life transition. I’m currently working on a shorter book about old dogs and what they teach us about life and love.
Both dogs and photography have been incredible teachers. In their own ways, they have each taught me to live in the moment, to appreciate what is in front of me right now, to treat it with wonder and curiosity, and to see the beauty that others overlook.
I’m married to an amazing husband with whom I have moved across country twice. I love being outdoors regardless of weather conditions and enjoy trail running, snowshoeing and hiking with my dogs. My journey has taken me all over the United States from North Carolina to Florida, Washington DC, New Mexico and currently, Michigan, where I live with my husband and two rescued dogs.
